“ . . . dance while you can”

In these darkening days of December, when the night feels long both literally and metaphorically, Sunday’s service at 11:15 a.m. will call us, each in our own ways, to . . . dance.  Because we’ll enjoy the antics of our House Band offering a few quite danceable selections, you may want to watch with your dancing shoes on, ready, as the spirit leads, to take your own little in-house dance break of defiance.

We’re Celebrating Kathleen Carpenter!

Finding Our Way as a Community in These Times: The Possibility of Shared Outdoor Activities

It is remarkable what we’ve been able to create and sustain through technology, but screen time just doesn’t compare to a face-to-face experience. Some are now asking, might we have small outdoor gatherings conducted in compliance with the best and safest practices in these times? All that we currently know suggests that our answer can be . . . yes.

Familiarize Yourself with Zoom

While many of us are homebound, we are looking into ways of keeping our members and friends connected. We'd also like to continue our programming in a way that is accessible to our members. In the meantime, you might like to familiarize yourself with Zoom. Click here to see how to sign up, it's free!

Family Christmas Eve Service Will Safely Involve Your Kids!

For our 2020 Family Christmas Eve service (to "air" at 4pm on Christmas Eve), we will still need children to "act out" the nativity story - but we will do it very safely with photos of your kids, not real time acting!  And we need parents or other caregivers to make it happen.

To What Do We Give Our Hearts

For 25 years, our youth have prepared and shared their personal credos as part of our congregation's biennial high school youth Coming of Age (COA) Program.  But did you know their mentors have also shared theirs?  Ten years ago, this became an expectation of all mentors.  And while the youth in this year's program have not yet prepared their credos due to "pandemic delay,"  the mentors presented theirs in the Program's May (Zoom) meeting.  Links to many of them can be found here.

Exploring In-Person Activities at the UUCC

You may have noticed that we recently launched our new website. This new site was designed to make it easier for visitors to find information about the congregation while also keeping our members up to date. Here's a quick tour of the homepage.

A Peek Behind the Sunday Service Curtain

In the middle of March, our building closed, and we had to find new ways to be “together.” Your staff wondered, “How do we continue to offer meaningful Sunday morning worship to our members and visitors?” Through trial and error, we landed on a process for creating a Sunday service that we have been using. How does it happen? And more importantly, how can you watch it?

UUCC Cares Fund Now Operational

We are most grateful for the generosity of our initial contributors. Several of you responded immediately and helped create a sufficient balance in the Fund so that we can now make it operational.

UUCC Response to the Pandemic

This article contains more information about the recently announced UUCC CARES Fund and newly created Transitions Task Group.

Our Community in the Unknowable Days Ahead

What lies ahead for the UUCC? When might we be able to take the initial small steps away from our current situation?  When might those first small gatherings happen again in our building?  How many more weeks (or is it months?) before we can gather again for services in our sanctuary? Our new “Transitions Task Group” is offering guidance and insight as we face just these kinds of questions.

Volunteer Opportunities
