Dear Community,

Your UUCC (Unitarian Universalist Community of Charlotte) staff continues to balance health and safety with maintaining access to our congregational connections. In recognition of the surge in positive COVID-19 cases in our community, we want to remind everyone that the UUCC continues to follow the recommended guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to keep everyone healthy and safe.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19, have symptoms of COVID-19, or otherwise do not feel well, please stay home.  If you have been exposed to Covid or have tested positive for Covid-19, the CDC (and the UUCC) recommends taking the following precautions: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/isolation.html.

In summary, you should isolate yourself if you are sick and/or suspect that you have COVID-19 but do not yet have test results. If your results are positive, you should isolate for at least 5-10 days based on the status of your symptoms. Regardless of when you end isolation, until at least day 11 you should avoid being around people who are more likely to get extremely sick from COVID-19 and wear a high-quality mask when indoors around others at home and in public. If you continue to test positive, you may still be infectious. You should continue wearing a mask and continue to test. This may necessitate wearing a mask and testing beyond day 10.

We recognize that risk cannot be eliminated. We have taken and will continue to take reasonable steps to minimize the risk of infection, including monitoring available resources, following local and national mandates for masking and closures, and maintaining MERV13 filtration and safe air exchange rates throughout the building. Masks are available and can be found in the UUCC front office, at the visitor’s table in the vestibule and in Freeman Hall. Individuals attending in-person services, meetings, and activities on campus must do their own risk assessment and attend at their own risk.

We are committed to balancing health and safety with maintaining community connections, but we cannot do it without your help. As you join us to be in community, please take the necessary precautions, based on your health status. Our goal is to keep our Unitarian Universalist values at the forefront, including putting people first.

With care,

Your Professional Staff
