Music in Worship

Visitors and members alike comment that our musical offerings deepen their experience of worship and reflection. We select music that complements and builds on the theme of each Sunday service.

On a typical Sunday, you may hear music performed on the piano and organ and by one of our choirs, a handbell ensemble or a guest vocalist or instrumentalist. The selections come from diverse music traditions: folk, gospel, classical, world, country and jazz. Our musical selections and our hymns originate from both sacred and secular traditions.

The UUCC Music Program hosts regular musical events throughout the year:

  • Music Sunday service in December and in May
  • concerts and recitals
  • coffeehouses
  • seasonal outreach concerts to assisted-living facilities

Director of Music John Herrick plays the piano, flute and organ. He directs the Adult Choir, Children’s Choir and Handbell Ensemble and coordinates congregational musicians, guest musicians and musical events
