Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the heart and soul of our religious community. Participate in one of the many opportunities to serve our community. Email Membership Coordinator Kelly Greene using the contact form or use the volunteer form to offer your services for any of the activities listed below.

Sunday Mornings

A/V Support: Tech-savvy volunteers help provide sound and images for services and other events. They also record services to create our podcasts and video archive.

Children and Youth Religious Education: Help our kids develop spiritually. Teach, assist with social events, justice activities or community outreach on Sundays and throughout the year.

Coffee Service: Our coffee servers prepare the coffee, tea, and snacks that help fuel lively conversations in Freeman Hall.

Greeters: In the vestibule and in Freeman Hall these friendly people greet visitors, help new people find their way, make introductions and provide information.

Music: On Sunday mornings, as well as for special events within our congregation and in the community, our Music Program offers many ways to share your musical talents.

Safety Patrol: Safety Patrol opens and closes our building on Sunday mornings and keeps watch during services and special events providing a measure of insurance against untoward events.

Ushers: Ushers distribute Sunday handouts, help people find seats, pass the offering baskets, count attendance and perform a money count.

Weekdays

Administrative/Office Help: Provide front desk coverage during weekday meetings, vacations and lunch breaks. Answer phones, do data entry and prepare mailings.

Building and Maintenance: Use your electrical, carpentry, plumbing or other handy skills to help maintain the building.

Information Technology: Help us with basic maintenance of our computers and technology.

Periodic and One-time

Justice Work: Get involved in one of the many ways our congregation works to increase justice and equity in the Charlotte community and the wider world.

Gardens and Landscaping: Join others in the congregation to help keep our FAITH (Fellowship Actions Impacting the Habitat) certified grounds healthy and beautiful.

Congregational Care: By making visits, providing meals or assisting with memorial service receptions, you can help members of our congregation through illness, loss or other hardships. Knit or crochet prayer shawls for people who have experienced a loss or illness.

Community Building: Help plan and coordinate special events, or work on event set-up, cleanup or food preparation.

Stewardship: Help in fundraising and stewardship cultivation to sustain the work of our congregation.

TEAMS

Our more seasoned volunteers are organized into teams that support and advise the professional staff and help do the heavy lifting that keeps our congregation running. Team membership is considered a leadership position in the congregation. A complete listing of the teams and their roles is found elsewhere on this site.
