Worship Team Member 

A group of nine or ten volunteers serve three-year terms on our Worship Team. These members are active attendees of services and help offer guidance to the services and evaluation of each service. Each year three or four new members join the team. If you would like to be considered for this role, please contact our minister, Rev. Lisa Bovee-Kemper, lisa@uuccharlotte.org. 

A/V Technician 

We rely on volunteers with technical acumen to staff our A/V booth in the rear of the sanctuary. One person in each service monitors the sound and manages the PowerPoint presentation, another manages the cameras which allow us to provide the service in our alternative worship space in the Bernstein Room and for our live streaming. Those interested in these roles should contact Director of Administration Alesia Hutto at alesia@uuccharlotte.org.

Lay Service Leader 

Each service includes the contributions of a Lay Service Leader. These individuals meet to plan the service with the Minister and the Director of Music then assist with leadership of both morning services.  Those interested in being considered for this role should express that interest to our minister, Rev. Lisa Bovee-Kemper, lisa@uuccharlotte.org. 

Music 

Under the leadership of our Ministers and our Director of Music, worship provides one of our primary settings for volunteers. Those with musical interests are invited to sing in our adult choir or to audition for our chamber choir. Those who play instruments often contribute to services as soloists, as accompanists, as parts of ensembles, as members of our band. Anyone wanting to learn more about musical opportunities should contact our Director of Music, John Herrick, john@uuccharlotte.org. 

 
Usher 

Each service relies on the volunteer involvement of two ushers. These prepare the space before the service, greet those arriving and distributed printed Orders of Service, usher latecomers to available seats, pass the baskets in the service, extinguish the candles at the end of the service, and then count and prepare the offering for deposit into the safe. Those interested in ushering should contact Kelly Greene at kelly@uuccharlotte.org.  

Worship Slide Creator

Assists service leaders with choosing images, editing and creating visually accessible and aesthetic slides to accompany the service and sync with the tech script. Must be proficient with powerpoint.
