the gardening group strives to attract pollinators to the UUCC grounds

Have you ever wondered how our lovely grounds are maintained? We have a volunteer group at the UUCC that looks after the gardens and landscaping around our building. Formerly known as the Gardening Group and currently in search of a more apt name, this is not just a group of gardening enthusiasts.

Our grounds are the first impression for those who visit our property. The work that these volunteers provide not only supports a vital part of our operations, but it also is in alignment with the UUCC’s ENDS Statement, “Environmental stewardship is a priority in our personal lives, within our congregation and with the larger community.” This group has a goal of introducing more native plants attractive to pollinators and other insects, which is beneficial to our environment. Our grounds have over 31 species of native plants, and the group continues to work to add beneficial native plants to the UUCC grounds.

We can only continue this work with the help of many volunteers. If you are looking for a meaningful way to contribute to the UUCC, join this group. They meet from 9-11 a.m. on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.
