Sunday, December 6 at 4 p.m. on Zoom: Sunday Dinner Challenge

You, or you and your family, must use the following ingredients to create a main dish for Sunday dinner. You may use ingredients in addition to the five listed below, but your dish must include:

  • swiss chard
  • cloves
  • lentils
  • instant mashed potatoes
  • almond extract

Your meal must be made and plated by 6 p.m. in time to join the Zoom call. You’ll then take turns introducing the dish you made to the judges as well as tasting your dish for the first time and describing what makes it a great Sunday dinner.

Once everyone has had a turn to introduce and live-taste their dish, judges will award for most creative dish and most visually pleasing dish…then we’ll eat together!

Sunday, December 20 at 4 p.m.: Holiday Dessert Challenge

For better or worse, we can’t taste one another’s creations over Zoom. The good news is, you can spend a week constructing a holiday dessert of your wildest dreams and not worry that it may taste a little stale come Thursday evening.

Gingerbread houses (no kits!), three-tier cakes, a holiday cookie spread—whatever your idea, be ready by 7 p.m. to reveal your creation and tell us about the process of creating your holiday dessert, what theme you chose, and

introduce us to the flavors you used. Judges will again award for most creative and most visually pleasing.

Let us know if you’re planning to participate in one or both competitions by emailing Eve Stevens at eve@uuccharlotte.org
