So often I have come before you with one reminder and another about life’s transience. On this day, the truth about impermanence will have a particularly personal meaning on a day when I will bid you my final farewell as your minister. ~ Jay Toward the conclusion of this Sunday’s service, we’ll be invited to affirm: Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime; Therefore, we are saved by hope. Then, we’ll attest: Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone; Therefore, we are saved by love. And so it ends (and continues) . . . with hope and love.
