After much thought and careful consideration, the ODS Managing Team–Meghan Beverley, Stephanie Clemens (FCA chair), David Flynn (chair), Alesia Hutto (UUCC staff liaison), Sheila Locklear (ODS Director), Elaine Peed, Jennifer Taylor and Jim Van Fleet–is excited to announce the plan to reopen ODS in January of 2021! Led by our dedicated school administration and with invaluable input from our teachers, families, and other local childcare centers the team has put together a comprehensive safety plan that will allow us to safely provide the same quality education and care for your children that we have always offered. We will, of course, adhere to all state and county guidelines and mandates and will act with the safety of our community as the driver for all decisions.

Over the next two months, the managing team will work with the school’s administration to prepare our facility and make it safe for our staff and families. Although information about COVID-19 statistics for Mecklenburg County remains fluid, at this time we are confident that we can open and operate safely. Ensuring the safety of our families and staff is our top priority!

Our school is largely self-sustaining. As a result, the economic impact of reopening ODS will not affect the financial wellbeing of the congregation. In the coming months, we will continue to report our progress on this huge undertaking.
