Music Team Member  

Description: The Music Team oversees all aspects of the music program, including seeking ways to expand the variety of music offered, participation in ensembles, community building and spiritual growth through music. The team also acts as a sounding board for the director of music and seeks to be welcoming and encouraging of all who wish to participate in the musical life of the congregation. 

Time Commitment: 3–year term; 1-2 hours of outside prep time/reading; regular observation of music program activities, such as music in worship and special Music Program events; 2-3 optional social gatherings per year.  

Member Attributes: Demonstrated interest and commitment in the UUCC Music Program; ability to work in a group; creative thinker.  

Music Program Volunteer Opportunities  

• The Adult Choir is open to all adults who are interested in singing. This voice ensemble of 35-40 singers performs during regular services throughout the year. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Sunday morning warm-ups are held 45 minutes before the service. 
• The Chamber Choir is a small vocal ensemble that requires an audition. This ensemble performs during services throughout the year. Rehearsals are held twice a month, on Wednesday evenings from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. 
• The Children’s Choir performs during the school year and is open to all kindergarteners through fifth-graders. Rehearsals are held on Sundays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. in the Priestley Room, beginning the third Sunday in September and running through the end of May. • Our House Band is comprised of singers and instrumentalists from the congregation who cover a wide range of musical styles, from bluegrass to folk and soft rock. This group performs in services throughout the year. 

• The Handbell Ensemble uses a set of 4-octave Malmark handbells to create beautiful sounds. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
