Donating to the UUCC CARES Fund

There are two ways to donate:

1. Mail us a check, writing CARES Fund in the memo line.
2. Online through the “GIVE TO UUCC / MET” button on our website. Use the “Special Collections” option and write in CARES Fund.

One of our Board of Trustees’ stated Ends for our congregation asserts: “We are a joyful, loving, religious community of people who are deeply connected to each other.” We are writing to you with an opportunity to embody this End in a particular way.

We are aware that this time is proving financially challenging, even devastating to some of our members. We wanted to reach out to the whole UUCC community with an opportunity to help support these members in need. In the coming days or weeks many of us will receive a check or deposit as a result of the recent passage of the “Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act,” also known as the ”CARES Act.” These direct payments to individuals and families are intended to help meet needs during the pandemic. And that’s exactly what we have in mind.

Should you assess that this payment is not necessary to enable you to meet pressing needs, and should you wish to help some of our members who are struggling, we invite you to contribute some or all of your impending payment to a fund we are creating to help support our members.

Here’s how it will work: We will receive designated contributions from members to the UUCC CARES Fund. These will be processed as contributions to the congregation and will appear on your annual giving report as such. They will not be used to support the regular operations of the congregation and, as such, will not be included as payments on your annual pledge.
