In December we reported that we were postponing our search for an Interim Director of Lifespan Religious Education*. We felt that our current virtual format was not conducive to the important work of an Interim, whose job it is to guide us in an exploration and assessment of the intricacies of our current religious education model and culture while helping us imagine new possibilities ahead.

Given the challenges that our current limitations would present for someone trying to do this work, we decided it was not an ideal use of our community’s financial resources to hire an Interim in January as we had planned.

Now that our search resumes, our Interim Search Group, Craig Harbold, Melissa Schropp and Julie Smith will again begin meeting with our Ministers, Jay Leach and Eve Stevens, to review applications as they come in, in hopes of finding an ideal fit for an Interim Director of Lifespan Religious Education to join our staff this summer so we can begin the collaborative effort of reimagining the role of religious education in the life of our congregation.

During the search period for an Interim Director of Lifespan Religious Education, we continue to be grateful to our member, Lisa Walls, as she goes above and beyond serving as our Coordinator of Religious Education for Children and Youth (CYRE), helping to keep our current programming running smoothly following the retirement of our Director of CYRE, Kathleen Carpenter. On the Adult Religious Education and Spiritual Development (ARE/SD) side of things, Jay Leach in collaboration with Chair, Sharon Baker and the entire ARE/SD Team, continue to provide an array of engaging offerings for adults.

We are grateful to our UUCC members whose generous support helps sustain our current programming as well as the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.

If you have questions about our search process, please reach out to our Ministers: Jay Leach and Eve Stevens
