Tour The Big Tree Museum at Historic Rosedale

Saturday, September 25 at 11 a.m.  3427 N. Tryon St.

Rosedale is a historic landmark located in Uptown Charlotte. Rosedale at one time included 900 acres and was home to 30 enslaved African Americans who grew wheat, corn and harvested timber. Today, there are historical tours of the house and grounds, including beautiful gardens and a “Big Tree Museum.”

We will meet at 11 a.m. to tour the grounds and bring our own lunches to sit and eat at a safe distance from one another. Should tours of the historic home be happening, they are $15 and anyone interested could join the 1 p.m. tour.

Let us know you’re coming HERE.

Reserve your spot for a $5 tour of the grounds or $15 tour of the house HERE.

2nd Annual UUCC Plant Swap

Saturday, October 16, 1-3 p.m. on the UUCC Grounds

We’re doing it again, this time on our own UUCC grounds here at 234*!

Bring a non-invasive plant (or more than one) to share and peruse what others in our community have brought. We have many avid gardeners in our community so you are bound to find some real treasures to plant. Whether you have been gardening for years or this will be your first attempt at putting something in the ground, come on down!

If you’re able to bring a table to display your plants, please do. You may also want to bring your own chair and water bottle. Please bring information about the plants you’re bringing such as their name and where they grow best.

Here are just a few of the plants members are planning to contribute thus far:

Wax Myrtle  (native shrub), strawberry plants (fruit-bearing in full sun, but also a pretty ground cover in shade that spreads), Bearded Iris, Siberian Iris, Obedient Plant (deer-resistant N. American native that the bees love), Black and Blue Salvia, Oak Leaf Hydrangea, Dead Nettle, Ostrich Ferns, Autumn Ferns.

Sign up HERE to let us know that you’re coming and perhaps what you’re bringing!

Chess Online or In Person

Even if you’re no Beth Harmon, sign up HERE and we’ll match you with a fellow UUCCer to play Chess online or in-person.

If you’re interested in finding community for other games, sign up and we’ll help you get connected with others to start your online or in-person gaming adventures!

Virtual Social Supper

Would you like to get to know people by breaking bread together in a small group setting? Consider joining a virtual Social Supper group!

Participants had a delightful experience this past year sharing dinner and conversation over Zoom. Everyone will make the same recipe at home then joined on the screen to share a meal and get-to-know-you conversation with others.

If you are interested in getting to know more UUCC members and newcomers in a small group social setting and learning some new recipes too sign up HERE.
