As a result of the Ends monitoring listening sessions held by the Board through the fall of 2025, a task force of the Board was appointed in October 2025 to begin work on an accessibility policy for the UUCC. This task force met with the (dis)Ablility Support and Advocacy Affinity Group as well as others as it worked on developing this policy. A draft “UUCC Accessibility and Inclusion Policy” was created and was approved by the Board at its May 2026 meeting. Areas covered in the policy include a definition of disability, the purpose and scope of the policy, and who the stakeholders are to be consulted when assessing the progress and compliance with the policy. In addition, a Board task force reviewed the Board’s “Governing Policies,” which guides how the Board operates under Policy Governance, and found a few areas that needed revision. These revisions included eliminating inconsistencies with our Ends Statements and changes to two areas of the monitoring schedule listed in Section IV of the policy (“Board-Coordinating Team Relationship”), specifically the assessment of our Ends and the assessment of staff treatment. These revisions were approved by the Board at its May 2026 meeting. Click on this link to access the full “Governing Policies”.
